Families of September 11

Families of September 11 was founded in October 2001, by family members of victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The group champions domestic and international policies that respond to the threat of terrorism. The organization is working with The Nuclear Threat Initiative to raise awareness of the threat of nuclear terrorism and provide information about possible solutions.

FD Element produced five Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that featured people who lost family members in the terrorist attacks as well as Thomas Kean, the Chair of the 9/11 Commission and Vice-Chair Lee H. Hamilton. These emotional spots communicated simply and powerfully. In less than a year the ads have run in all 50 states, with $1.5 million worth of donated media value.

This effort added valuable momentum to the successful efforts to get Congress to support steps to fight nuclear terrorism.
